Orchid Walk at Calke Abbey
Sunday 1st July
A tranquil 2.5 mile walk which takes you through a varied landscape of grasslands, arable farmland and one of Europe’s rarest habitats – wood pasture. A circular route with stepped and stoned paths, kissing gates and styles. Dogs welcome but to be kept on a lead. Refreshments afterward at the restaurant.
Meet at church at 1.30 pm for a lift or directions to the car park, or to follow another driver.
National Trust members to use the main Calke Abbey car park.
Non-Trust members to use the car park north of Calke village
(£3.70 per car – not per person)
All to meet at 2.45 pm to start the walk from Calke Abbey main entrance
(Non-Trust members will have an extra 20 minute walk to the starting point so please allow for this)
Please ask at church for a map for directions to the car parks and Calke Abbey
