Church walk to Osmaston via bluebell wood

On Sunday 30th April, a group of us from St Barnabas and other friends met up near Shirley and walked a circular route to Osmaston village via a beautiful bluebell wood.  The weather was perfect for walking and it was a great opportunity to get together and enjoy fellowship and friendship together.   There will be other walking opportunities during the forthcoming months, so look out for the dates on the website.20170430_143347 20170430_150714

Our Church Weekend Away at Willersley

In March, many of us from St Barnabas stayed at the beautiful Willersley Castle in Cromford for our church weekend away.  Our theme was ‘Worship’ and we all received excellent teaching from Dave Hopwood, a writer, speaker and presenter with wonderful sung worship led by Jon Pocock.  Dave and Jon led our teaching and sung worship for our last weekend together in 2015 so it was really good to meet with them again and learn from them.

The children also followed the same theme but they were taught by Sharon Shipley and her fantastic team; and so the children had an exciting time learning through media, crafts and games too.

Thank you to all who came and took part and most importantly, thank you Lord for your presence.

Messy Easter Fun!

A great time was had at our Messy Easter Church in April.  There were lots of crafts and activities to do and things to make, including balloon modelling, making an Easter garden, decorating biscuits, making Easter cards, peg decorations and using wool, ribbon and fabric to weave and make a hanging. We heard the Easter story, sung songs and then ended our time togetEaster gardenbiscuitswool2groupballoonsher with a sit down meal.

Barn Dance fun!

On Saturday 4th February we had a great time dancing to ‘Double Capers’ our regular Ceilidh duo!   We began the evening with a shared tea and then enjoyed lots of dancing together which Daryl expertly led us in whilst Bryan played beautiful music.  It was great fun being together and dancing and we raised £250 for the Derby Churches Nightshelter from the sale of the tickets for the barn dance and from selling cakes during the evening.

Thank you to everyone who came and supported this wonderful event.  We look forward to the next one!Image-2 file5 Image-5 Image-1
