For good exercise, great fellowship and an opportunity to make new friends, come on a Church Walk next spring/summer.
We have enjoyed good fellowship during coffee after morning services and with this in mind it was suggested we extended this in order to get to know each other a little better. It was decided that walking was a good way to do this and an ideal time was on a Sunday afternoon in the spring and summer.
So I sat down and selected walks to be completed between April and July that were suitable and fairly level with good quality paths and of a distance of no more than 3 miles. There needed to be an on-site car park with facilities and a place for a refreshment stop half way through the walks.
We have since completed four successful walks visiting Elvaston Country Park, Shipley Country Park, Calke Abbey and Rosliston Forestry Centre. We met up at church to share lifts at 2 or 3 pm. We had an average of 12 on each walk including children; we experienced a spirit of friendship whilst walking and enjoying good conversation. It was nice to spend time together discovering the sights and sounds of nature; we were able to get to know each other a little better, enjoying the fresh air, peace of the countryside and were fortunate to enjoy good weather on all the walks.
As an added bonus we enjoyed cakes and a welcome cup of tea at the vicarage after the walks were completed. Contact us for more details.
